How long should you wait after rain?

No fixed number of days works for every species and habitat. A brief shower after a long dry period does not have the same effect as an established wet sequence. Temperature, wind, evaporation, canopy cover, soil type and previous soil moisture also influence what may be observed. Review the rainfall timeline instead of one daily total, compare several areas and keep a backup route. In the field, check whether the litter and upper soil still appear dry or have genuinely regained moisture. Rain is useful context to interpret, but it is never a countdown that guarantees fruiting bodies.
